Travel // I’m off to the Big Apple

I’m off to NYC and I cannot wait! PT (the boyfriend) and I are going on our first adventure together across the ocean and the first trip to NYC ever for us both.

Ummm….dramatic pause…

……Ok so the ‘I’m off to the Big Apple’ post has become the ‘I went to the Big Apple post’, between work, outfit planning and Christmas preparation the blog didn’t get blogged. BUT on the positive side I now get to tell you all about it and share some of the moments that made me fall in love with this city.

I loved New York, I loved how busy it was, I loved the buildings, the food, the shopping and most of all I loved being there with my bestie. At times, even in the crowds of people, it felt like we were the only two people there and the fact that it’s Christmas time, just made it that little bit better ~ nowhere does Christmas like NYC!

The Hotel

We stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan on Maddison Avenue and 45th Street. Our location was perfect, right next to Grand Central station; 20 minutes walk in one  direction was Central Park and the other Times Square. We walked miles a day, but with the amount there is to see you just don’t realise until you’re back in the hotel and your feet ache!

The Food

Pronto Pizza New York City: Yes we ate it all, and it was amazing!

Aureole New York City: This was one of the nights we got dressed up for a date nights NYC style. As you can see from the pictures the food looked amazing… it tasted even better. PT maintains that this was the best steak he’s ever had! I cant even begin to describe the desserts but How?? How do you get a meringue to do that ~ almost didn’t want to eat them. Almost.

The Street food

On every corner there’s a hot dog, falafel, peanut stand and as it was Christmas there was also warm mulled apple cider and churros! We found a super cute park inside the winter village, right by the big Christmas tree (empty ~ its like people don’t want to sit out in the 4 degree heat), we sat with our warm cider and reflected on the day, planned the next trip and simply looked up at where we were. At night New York is the most romantic and beautiful city.

The Park

Just Beautiful. We spent our last evening walking through the park and it was one of my favourite memories. We had planned to go ice skating but it was booked out. Much to PTs joy, as he’s shocking on the ice. We got hot chocolates and just walked and talked.

The Shopping

I shall begin with my new found love of Michael Kors. I kept my distance from this designer because I didn’t like one of the watches I saw once. I can’t remember, what I do know is that I walked through the door and fell in Love! PT needed to visit Michael Kors to pick up a gift for his sister (so I guess we’ll blame her for the new obsession). I decided to treat myself to the Saffiano Carryall purse and we also bought the Bedford Clutch Bag. Both Beautiful!

Ivanka Trump over the knee boots

Ivanka Trump Tall Dress Boots Mixit:  like so many I absolutely fell in love with the Stuart Weiztman 50/50 over the knee boots but just couldn’t spend the £460 it would take to have a pair of my own, however, whilst in Bloomingdales, I stumbled across these boots and fell instantly in love. They were $179 and have be worn almost constantly ~ If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen these in most OOTD.

L’Occitane Lavendar Body wash and lotion

L’Occitane Repairing shampoo and conditioner

I’ve always used L’Occitane products and I do rate them quite highly. The repairing shampoo and condition feels amazing and considering I have 20 inch hair I find these products last an age; super foamy and effective with only a small squeeze! I got the small bottles as we were away but still came home with some left over. Result.

Back in the UK now and whilst I miss my time in New York, it’s nice to be home and Christmas is just around the corner and I still have so much to do! I hope you enjoyed this and if you have always wanted to visit New York but haven’t yet, or if you want a city break and are not sure where to go. GO TO NEW YORK ~ it will not disappoint.
